On the inside of the CD sleeve there's a letter to radio personnel giving some background about The Memorial Fund for Disaster Relief, the charity Waters' Berlin concert benefited. 2" by Waters and his Bleeding Heart Band. The sampler also contains a re-recording of Floyd's classic "Another Brick in the Wall Pt. The version on "The Wall Berlin '90" differs slightly from the "Echoes" version. Consumers would have to wait until the 2001 release of "Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd" for the song's first commercial release on disc. The six-song, 29-minute CD contains "When the Tigers Broke Free" from the 1982 film "Pink Floyd The Wall." Previously released as a single in July 1982, its inclusion here marked the song's first release on CD. How do they stack up? Still, these rarely released records provided intriguing glimpses of their musical life outside of Pink Floyd – and lasting insights into the parts of the past that they still wanted to carry forward. Or maybe they just really enjoyed the middle-aged, rocking-chair life. Perhaps their hall-of-fame run in the band they fought so viciously over had left Gilmour and Waters with fewer ideas.
But Gilmour never really picked up the solo pace, even after the death of co-founding member Richard Wright summarily ended Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd's final Gilmour-led projects, The Division Bell and The Endless River, were far more collaborative. But then Waters went on to release just three rock solo albums before his 75th birthday. His first solo album, perhaps understandably, featured leftover material from the Floyd days. More confusing was the relative quiet of Waters, who emerged as Pink Floyd's undisputed mastermind after leading them through 1977's Animals, 1979's The Wall and 1983's The Final Cut.
